Privacy Policy
Vialed is built so that you don't have to trust us with your data. Everything you enter is stored on your iPhone and, if you're signed into iCloud, backed up to your own private iCloud account. We have no servers that store your medication, vial, or dose information. We don't collect analytics. We don't show ads. We don't sell anything to anyone.
Who We Are
"Vialed" is an iOS application developed and published by SAE Software LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company ("we," "us," "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how the Vialed app and the vialed.app website handle your information.
Information Stored on Your Device
Vialed lets you record information about your medications, vials, doses, schedules, and injection sites. This information includes whatever you choose to enter, which may include:
- Medication names, custom labels, categories, notes, and color coding
- Vial details — strength, reconstitution volume, lot number, acquisition date, expiration, cost, and notes
- Dose records — date and time administered, amount, injection site, and notes
- Schedule preferences and reminder settings
- App preferences and onboarding state
All of this information is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. It is not transmitted to SAE Software LLC and is not visible to us. (If you enable iCloud, it's also backed up to your private iCloud account — see iCloud Backup below.)
iCloud Backup
If you have iCloud enabled on your device and choose to use Vialed's iCloud feature, your Vialed data is backed up to your private iCloud account and restored automatically when you reinstall Vialed or set up a new iPhone. This goes directly between your device and Apple's iCloud service. We do not have access to your iCloud data. Apple's handling of your iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.
You can disable Vialed's use of iCloud at any time in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud.
Information We Do Not Collect
Vialed does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, telemetry, or crash-reporting SDKs. The Vialed app does not collect:
- Personal identifiers such as your name, email address, phone number, or device identifiers
- Location data
- Usage analytics, screen views, taps, session duration, or feature usage
- Crash logs (other than the anonymous, aggregated reports Apple may provide to developers if you have opted into sharing diagnostic data with Apple in iOS Settings — these are handled by Apple, not us)
- Health data from Apple Health or any other source — Vialed does not request HealthKit permissions
- Contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or other device sensors
Vialed does not require an account. There is no sign-up, no login, and no password.
The only personal information we ever receive is an email address you choose to give us on our website to join the Vialed Insiders newsletter (see below).
Notifications
If you enable notifications, Vialed schedules local notifications on your device to remind you of doses and schedule events. These notifications are delivered by iOS using Apple's UserNotifications framework and do not pass through any server we operate. We do not send push notifications from a server.
Purchases and Subscriptions
Vialed Premium is sold as an in-app subscription processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. We do not see or receive your payment information — Apple handles the entire transaction. The information Apple shares with us is limited to whether your Apple ID has an active Vialed subscription (we receive a signed transaction object verifying entitlement). Apple's handling of your purchase information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and the App Store Terms.
Vialed Insiders Newsletter
Vialed Insiders is an optional email newsletter. The app never asks for your email address. Tapping a Vialed Insiders link in the app opens our website, where you can choose to enter one.
When you sign up, we collect only your email address. We use it to send you the newsletter (tips, guides, and news about Vialed features) and for nothing else. It is never connected to your Vialed app data, which stays on your device and in your private iCloud account. The signup page uses no cookies or analytics.
Your email address is stored, and the newsletter is sent, by our email service provider, Maropost, which handles it on our behalf. Like most email services, Maropost records whether each email was delivered, opened, or had a link clicked. We do not sell your email address or share it with anyone else.
Every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to delete your email address at any time by writing to privacy@vialed.app.
Children's Privacy
Vialed is intended for adults 18 years of age or older, as described in the Medical Disclaimer. Vialed is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Data Export and Deletion
Because your data lives only on your device (and, if enabled, in your iCloud account), you control it directly:
- Export: You can export your dose history as CSV from inside the app.
- Delete: Deleting the Vialed app from your device removes the local data. To remove iCloud backup copies, disable iCloud for Vialed in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud or delete the data from your iCloud account.
Because we do not store your data on our servers, we cannot fulfill data access or deletion requests for app data on your behalf — you are already in control.
Your Rights Under UK & EU Law (GDPR)
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, the UK GDPR and EU GDPR give you specific rights over your personal data. The data controller for Vialed is SAE Software LLC. You can reach our privacy contact at privacy@vialed.app.
We rely on two legal bases for processing your information: your consent (which you give by choosing to enter information and to enable features such as iCloud backup and notifications), and our legitimate interest in providing the app's core functionality. Because your data is stored on your own device and in your private iCloud account rather than on our servers, the processing we perform is minimal.
For the Vialed Insiders newsletter, we rely on your consent, which you give by entering your email address. You can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing.
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data (you can edit any entry directly in the app)
- Erasure (the "right to be forgotten") — delete your data by deleting the app and removing its iCloud copy
- Restrict processing — ask us to limit how your data is used
- Data portability — receive your data in a portable format (Vialed exports your dose history as CSV from inside the app)
- Object — object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interest
- Lodge a complaint — complain to a supervisory authority, such as the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, or your local EU data protection authority
Because your Vialed data lives on your device and in your private iCloud account, you can exercise most of these rights yourself, immediately: edit entries to correct them, export your dose history as CSV, and delete the app and its iCloud data to erase everything. For any request you cannot complete on your own — or to ask a question about your rights — email privacy@vialed.app and we will respond within the timeframes required by law.
Data retention. We do not hold your data on our servers, so there is nothing for us to retain. Your information stays in your private iCloud account until you delete it; deleting the app and its iCloud data removes it entirely. If you join Vialed Insiders, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
International transfers. Your backed-up data is stored in Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) infrastructure, which Apple may operate across data centers in different countries. These transfers are covered by Apple's data processing terms and the standard contractual clauses Apple maintains for international data transfers. If you join Vialed Insiders, your email address is also stored by our email provider, Maropost, which may store it outside your country. We do not transfer your data anywhere else.
Children. Vialed is intended for adults 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. Where a lower age of digital consent applies in your country, we still do not knowingly collect data from anyone below that age.
Changes to This Policy
If we materially change this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date below and, where appropriate, surface the change in the app. Continued use of Vialed after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
